Halloween, Just a feast?

The origin of Halloween.

Ages before the birth of Christ the countries England, Scotland, Germany, France and Ireland were inhabited by people called Celts. They celebrated their new year called Samhain on the 1st of November which was the end of the summer and the harvest time. They believed that on New Year’s Eve, the 31st of October, spirits of all those who died throughout the preceding year came over into the world of the living to possess their souls so that they would have a living body in the new year.

The priests called Druids offered animals, harvest and even people to their gods. They kindled a bonfire or bone fire (fire of bones). They put all the bones they had offered together, laid a fire to assure that the sun would rise again after the winter and to chase away the wicked spirits.

The custom to go from house to house started this way.

The Celts had a great fear for the spirits, that’s why they put fruit and food in front of the house to satisfy them. Later the custom changed when the beggars in England went from house to house to ask for ‘soul cakes’ (a square bread) in exchange of which they would pray for the deceased souls of the families.The phrase trick or treat is more modern and started being used in the year 1930.To chase away the wicked spirits they put in front of the house a pumpkin with a demonic face carved out in it, thinking that the spirits would get scared if they saw something uglier than themselves.The custom of the pumpkin comes from an Irish fable about a cursed soul called Jack O’lantern.

Where does the name Halloween come from?

In the year 43 AD Rome invaded the greatest part of the Celtic territory. In the year 500 AD when Catholicism became the world religion the Christian influence spread in the territory of the Celts, but the pagans continued to celebrate their customs. That’s why, to replace the celebration of the pagans (instead of stopping them and teaching them better), Pope Gregory III moved in the year 800 AD the All-Saints Day or All Hallows Day from May 13th to November 1st which coincides with the new year of the Celts. They called the eve of the all-saints day which is October 31 All Hallows Eve and finally it became Halloween. The danger is that until now many customs of the Celts have continued and got mingled with Christianity.

Where does the custom to disguise come from?

They disguise as everything that is frightening so the wicked spirits, that according to their believe are running around loose, do not recognize and harm them. Nowadays children dress up as
demon, witch, death’s-head, ghost, etc. and go from house to house. In order to get sweets they have to say “trick or treat”. And who are they imitating?

What should we do?

Perhaps you’re thinking, but I’m not sacrificing, I’m not a Satanist, I just have fun. But you’re having fun with things that has to do with death and suffering. Does this please God? With a feast one celebrates something as a birthday or a success; there is a reason to come together, but what is being celebrated with Halloween? Is there something to celebrate? Although we recognize that nowadays people organize feasts because they miss the sociability instead of improving the atmosphere at home, family disasters keep on augmenting. If you are a Christian mother or father and you let your children participate in this feast, you’re playing in the area of Darkness.

What does God say? We cannot participate in the works of darkness;

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Ephesians 5:11 [NKJV]

If you are a child of God separate yourself from these things;

Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.

1 Corinthians 10:20 [NKJV]

We have the promise that God protects our children. If we allow them to participate in these feasts the promise of God is no longer valid. You as a parent are responsible for the spiritual life of your child; just stand still and think for a moment. What positive is there in a feast that contains: Black magic, spirit and … death? In what way do these practices please God? If you were to draw a picture for your child to color, would you draw a death’s-head? But if at a feast they have your child disguise himself with something diabolic, it is very normal. Don’t you think that’s strange?

Therefore, Scripture says:

My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 [NKJV]

We are seeing enough tragedies and death in our land to play with and even celebrate death. We want things to go well for us. We want our land to be blessed. How is that possible if we ourselves open the door for satanic influences? Be wise and abstain from these kinds of practices. Let’s seek God’s face and He will restore our land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If you are sorry if you ever participated or did other kinds of these things, repent of your sins, ask Christ Jesus to come live in your heart and He will lead you into all truth.

Churches: “God Is Pro-Choice,” the Pro-Life Movement a “Demonic Agenda”

“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). Since the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the blood-stained Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, we’ve seen the hatred and murder lurking in people’s hearts come pouring out of their mouths—and sadly this even includes from some “churches” and “pastors.”

A recent article highlighted some sickening quotes from church leaders that I believe can be compared to God’s words about an unrepentant Israel through the prophet Jeremiah:

For my people are foolish;
they know me not;
they are stupid children;
they have no understanding.
They are ‘wise’—in doing evil!
But how to do good they know not. (Jeremiah 4:22)

These church leaders, from various denominations throughout the US, stated things like:

We pray for all who partner with those in need of reproductive health care . . . We pray for the loss of life yet to come from forced childbirth and illegal abortion . . . We pray for those who are not of the same mind regarding reproductive rights.

This prayer completely ignores the “loss of life” of every unborn child in an abortion!

This prayer completely ignores the “loss of life” of every unborn child in an abortion! This thinking regarding “reproductive health care” might be applauded by our culture, but it is certainly not pleasing to the Creator who “formed my inward parts” and “knitted me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13) and who states that children are a gift from him (Psalm 127:3).

If men could get pregnant, this wouldn’t even be a topic.

This, of course, is a ridiculous argument because: (1) the morality of a situation is not dependent on whether it is a man or a woman carrying the child (morality is determined by God and his Word); (2) many, many women and men are against abortion, so this is not a “men vs. women” debate—it’s an issue of the morality of murdering helpless babies!; and (3) this assumes all men would be perfectly okay with abdicating their responsibility towards a child they helped create, which is not true. Many men have the integrity to do the right thing and love and welcome their children into the world.

All the guys, let’s all, let’s all set appointments to get vasectomies . . . This is not just about reproductive rights … This is about voting rights, it’s about civil rights, it’s about human rights.

What about the civil and human rights of a child being poisoned and dismembered in the womb? (And is this pastor really encouraging his congregation not to have children because some women are no longer allowed to murder their children in some states? How vile! It also sounds dangerously close to encouraging or giving a “free pass” to promiscuity among the men in his congregation!)The killing of unborn children is part of a demonic agenda to destroy those who are created in God’s image.

This same person also called the pro-life movement “the beginning of a demonic agenda” and called on the church to “get in the gap.” But he has this backward—the killing of unborn children is part of a demonic agenda to destroy those who are created in God’s image. It is nothing more than sacrifice to the “god of self.” It’s no different from the pagan cultures that sacrificed their children to the god Molech.

And the church has “gotten in the gap”—the vast majority of pregnancy care centers are run by Christians who love women, men, and their precious babies and provide real help, such as free diapers, cribs, baby clothes, parenting classes, ultrasounds, counseling, and more to anyone in need. But apparently providing real hope and help is “demonic,” while killing children and doing nothing further for the mother and family are good things. What an evil view!

One last quote from the article:

One of the clergy at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta told the congregation that he once viewed abortions as killing babies — that is, until he prayed for a “deeper understanding” of the issue.

“Some view abortions as babies being killed as I once did before praying for a deeper understanding,” he said, later adding that “laws that restrict and take away freedoms are never on the side of Jesus and a God of justice.”

Well, God certainly didn’t give him this “deeper understanding.” God cannot deny himself, so he will never contradict his written Word, which states, “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him . . . hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6:16-17). And the God of justice will hold those accountable who have taken away the God-given freedom to live from countless unborn babies!

These “pastors” would do well to heed God’s warning:

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

To me, the following verse really sums up these “pastors”: “There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Romans 3:18).

Is It Unloving to Speak of Hell?

By: Randy Alcorn (Living Waters)

If you were giving some friends directions to Denver and you knew that one road led there but a second road ended at a sharp cliff around a blind corner, would you talk only about the safe road? No. You would tell them about both, especially if you knew that the road to destruction was wider and more traveled. In fact, it would be terribly unloving not to warn them about that other road.

For the same reason, we must not believe Satan’s lie that it’s unloving to speak to people about Hell. The most basic truth is that there are only two possible destinations after death: Heaven and Hell. Each is just as real and just as eternal as the other. Unless and until we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, we’re headed for Hell. The most loving thing we can do for our friends and our family is to warn them about the road that leads to destruction and tell them about the road that leads to life.

It would upset us, but would we think it unloving if a doctor told us we had a potentially fatal cancer? And would the doctor not tell us if the cancer could be eradicated? Why then do we not tell unsaved people about the cancer of sin and evil and how the inevitable penalty of eternal destruction can be avoided by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ?

If we understood Hell even the slightest bit, none of us would ever say, “Go to Hell.” It’s far too easy to go to Hell. It requires no change of course, no navigational adjustments. We were born with our autopilot set toward Hell. It is nothing to take lightly—Hell is the single greatest tragedy in the universe.

God loves us enough to tell us the truth—there are two eternal destinations, not one, and we must choose the right path if we are to go to Heaven. All roads do not lead to Heaven. Only one does: Jesus Christ. He said, “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). All other roads lead to Hell. The high stakes involved in the choice between Heaven and Hell will cause us to appreciate Heaven in deeper ways, never taking it for granted, and always praising God for His grace that delivers us from what we deserve and grants us forever what we don’t.

How God-Given Adaptability Helped Crows and Ravens Take Over the World

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—I ran across this article, which immediately reminded me of the providence of God on post-flood animals. The title of the article predictably attributes the geographic success of ravens and crows to “evolution,” but in reality, what is discussed is adaptation, not molecules-to-man evolution.

Ravens and crows have a worldwide distribution.

Ravens and crows (and there really is not much difference between them except that ravens are generally larger and crows typically have a bit more color variability) have a worldwide distribution. Ravens are scattered all over the northern hemisphere, and crows inhabit both the northern and southern hemispheres. The news article and the journal article it was summarizing were attempting to figure out why ravens and crows were so successful. Ravens are in a family of birds (think biblical kind) that also includes crows, rooks, jackdaws, jays, magpies, and others.

But examining living and museum specimens, the researchers in the Nature paper found that ravens and crows have longer wing lengths, bigger body sizes, and bigger relative brain sizes even among other corvids. They also pointed out that ravens and crows (genus Corvus) have different color variations (not all are black), based on their environment (some are black and white, some are blue and white, or mottled), and are known to use tools and even drop rocks on potential nest predators.

According to the news article,

Longer wings means higher flying capacities that allowed the birds to disperse across the world. Big brains relative to their bodies suggest that ancestral crows and ravens were behaviorally flexible. They were smarter than other Corvids and, therefore, able to figure out how to live in a new environment, increasing their chances of survival. Their bigger body size also gave them a competitive advantage over smaller species, helping them establish in a new place.

But another factor that has really aided their worldwide distribution is their diet. Ravens and crows will eat anything, including other birds’ nestlings or their eggs, fruits, nuts, seeds, mollusks, crustaceans, earthworms, frogs, eggs, mice, carrion, and will even forage through human garbage. We know that all air-breathing, terrestrial-based biblical kinds were taken onto the ark by Noah. And as I read the article, what stood out to me was that a raven was the first animal to leave the ark (Genesis 8:6-7). And the implication from the biblical account is that, by the time of the flood, the raven was omnivorous and so had plenty of food (like carrion, crustaceans, mollusks, or earthworms) to survive outside the ark.

We also know that God created a great variety of genetic information into each kind so that they could adapt to their environment and branch out into different species.

We also know that God created a great variety of genetic information into each kind so that they could adapt to their environment and branch out into different species. Just as we see wolves, coyotes, and jackals (from the original dog kind), and lions, tigers, and pumas (from the original cat kind), so the corvid kind speciated out into ravens, crows, jays, etc. But speciation usually involves a loss of genetic information, as each species becomes specialized for its environment, and mutations occur within the genome. This is not the direction needed for amoeba-to-astronaut evolution, even though the news articles tout that angle.

It is also possible that the released ark raven had an early advantage over the rest of the animals, which were told to be fruitful and multiply when they left the ark (Genesis 8:17). Now we don’t know if that raven was a male or female, but since the dove Noah later sent out was female, it seems reasonable to think the raven was too. If she was pregnant when she left the ark, then 18–21 days later she might have laid her eggs. Females lay between three and seven eggs and don’t rely upon the male for brooding as some birds do. However, ravens typically mate for life, so the male would have been sure to find her when he was released (around 100 days later). But even if that’s not the case, we know that ravens and crows are common all across their vast ranges and can rapidly reproduce, with very little concern about predation.

Now, let me give you a quote from the journal article and then interpret it with our biblical glasses on.

Our analyses show that in ~10 Ma, crows and ravens experienced a massive geographic expansion that allowed them to reoccupy and even surpass the already broad climatic niche of other Corvidae. In parallel with this geographic and niche expansion, Corvus experienced accelerated rates of species diversification accompanied by a remarkable fast expansion of the morphospace. Corvus for instance exhibits the greatest amount of body size variation and the highest rates of body size evolution in Corvidae. In terms of beak shape, crows and ravens not only reproduced many of the shapes already present in their family but also evolved entirely new beak types in short time periods (e.g., Corvus crassirostris and Corvus moneduloides). Because these morphological traits have a well-established adaptive basis, our findings suggest that the global radiation of crows and ravens cannot merely be understood as the result of dispersal and (non-adaptive) allopatric speciation, but also of considerable adaptive divergence driven by ecological factors.

Biblical worldview: Just after the ravens left Noah’s ark (about 4,400 years ago) and about the time of the subsequent ice age, they rapidly speciated, expanded their range worldwide, and became specialized in (or adapted to) the varying environments they settled in. Some grew larger or smaller, and some had beak size (and even beak color) changes based on the created genetic diversity in the biblical corvid kind. So, does this equate to evolution? No, but it fits perfectly with the biblical account of the global flood, which provided brand-new environments and geographic ranges to colonize, and God’s command concerning all the animals that were on the ark:

Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth—that they may swarm on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth. (Genesis 8:17)

So, does speciation equate to evolution? (Certainly students in public schools are taught that it does!) Quoth the raven–nevermore!

“TikTok Pastor” Says Jesus Isn’t the Only Way

“TikTok Pastor” Brandan Robertson Needs to Rethink His Unbiblical Teaching

This recent article caught my attention . . . for all the wrong reasons. As I’ve mentioned hundreds of times over the years, once you open the door for compromise on the book of Genesis, it allows the door to continually be opened wider for compromise on the rest of Scripture. It places a person on a slippery slide of unbelief.

Genesis is the foundation for so many biblical principles, like creation, sin, death, marriage, gender, and sexuality. When the book of Genesis is relegated to myth, moral parable or “mytho-history” (as William Lane Craig puts it), then man’s opinion becomes the standard for determining morality. And this can be clearly seen (and heard) in the teaching of the self-titled “TikTok pastor” Brandan Robertson.

Brandan is so far removed from biblical Christianity that I have to wonder why he even bothers to label his “ministry” as Christian.

Brandan is so far removed from biblical Christianity that I have to wonder why he even bothers to label his “ministry” as Christian. Most recently he has described himself as a Christian agnostic. In short, one-minute messages, he has denied the biblical principle of one-man–one-woman marriage, endorsed “gay” marriage and polyamory, and for the past few years called himself a gay “Renegade Reverend” who rethinks sin, though he claims to be “a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” It’s his way of justifying doing whatever he wants to do with relationships/sex and other things.

So, how does “rethinking sin” work out in his “ministry”? Well, Brandan has stated (in clear opposition to Scripture), “For most people, sex before marriage is a healthy expression of the gift of sexuality and is not ‘sinful’ or morally wrong.” For polyamorists, he declares: “Your relationships are holy.” So, I guess “rethinking sin” is ignoring what God calls sin and celebrating it? Unsurprisingly then, Brandan claims, “I don’t believe in hell, yet I choose to follow Jesus because I know it blesses my life and the world around me.”

How can someone who claims that Jesus isn’t the only way of salvation and is unsure of the Resurrection—and who redefines Scripture to embrace sin—call himself a Christian?

Brandan also does not believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation. Also, he doesn’t know “what happened after the crucifixion.” Perhaps he should read 1 Corinthians 15:13-19, where the resurrection of Christ is viewed as crucial to Christianity, without which our “faith is in vain.” He should also consider 1 Peter 1:3, where the Apostle Peter tells us that God the Father “has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” So, how can someone who claims that Jesus isn’t the only way of salvation and is unsure of the Resurrection—and who redefines Scripture to embrace sin—call himself a Christian? Answer: they can’t.

The Apostle Paul stresses this in the book of Ephesians:

But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. (Ephesians 5:3-12)

Brandan needs to actually read all the Bible and study its teachings in context!

Study Finds God’s Design for Marriage Is Best

A recent study of marriages and divorces among 50,000 US women revealed something shocking—God’s design for marriage and sexuality is best! (Okay, that’s not really shocking—to Bible-believing Christians anyway! That’s what we would expect.) What is God’s design? It’s given to us in the very beginning when God created marriage: one man for one woman for life (Genesis 1:27).

Scripture exalts marriage and sexuality as God’s very good design (consider, for example, the book of Song of Solomon).

Scripture exalts marriage and sexuality as God’s very good design (consider, for example, the book of Song of Solomon). Our sexuality is part of God’s design, and it’s a good thing within the confines of marriage (one man and one woman becoming one flesh for life). Because sex is a good gift from God, within the context of marriage, Scripture not only celebrates sexuality but prohibits a wide variety of sexual behaviors that fall outside of God’s design.*

As Christians, we understand that God alone has the right to set the rules because he created us, so the mantra of our culture, “my body, my choice,” is fundamentally flawed. We do not have absolute authority over our bodies (neither does any other person). God cares what we do with our bodies, and we are ultimately accountable for him for what we choose to do with and to them (1 Corinthians 6:18–20).

Back to the study. The title of the article summarizing the results of this study read:

Too Risky to Wed in Your 20s? Not If You Avoid Cohabiting First: Research shows that marrying young without ever having lived together with a partner makes for some of the lowest divorce rates.

The “wisdom” of our day is that couples should wait until they are older to marry and should live together before they decide to wed—after all, the thought goes, you wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it first, and marriage is a much bigger commitment than buying a car! But, as is always the case, the world’s “wisdom” is foolishness, and the “foolishness” of God is where true wisdom is found (1 Corinthians 3:18–20).

This study found that couples who cohabit (which is really fornication (sin) in God’s eyes) “are less likely to be happily married and more likely to land in divorce court.” In other words, waiting until marriage to live together is better for your relationship than “trying it out” before tying the knot. And that’s not surprising—God’s design is that a man and woman marry and then “leave mother and father” to become “one flesh” (Genesis 2:17).

Sadly many professing Christians, particularly in the younger generations, think according to the world’s wisdom and forsake the sexual ethic found in God’s Word. But obedience to God is what is best because, first of all, that’s how we grow in godliness and holiness and how we please our Creator and Savior, but also because God’s design is what is best for us!

Obedience to God is what is best because, first of all, that’s how we grow in godliness and holiness and how we please our Creator and Savior, but also because God’s design is what is best for us!

If you want true wisdom for marriage, look to God’s Word, not the world’s “wisdom.”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. (Proverbs 3:5–7)

Darwin—Did He Shape the Views of Hitler and the Nazis?

Darwinism has a very bloody legacy. Charles Darwin’s ideas on human evolution fueled a specific kind of racism, influencing generations to believe there were higher and lower (primitive and advanced) races (with so-called Caucasians at the top of the evolutionary hierarchy). Darwin’s views influenced a wide variety of evil people, including perhaps the most infamous of all: Adolf Hitler.

The bloodstained legacy of Darwin is highlighted in a new book from historian Richard Weikart. According to a write-up about the book,

The work reveals how Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution shaped the views of Hitler and the Nazis, and how the Nazis championed Darwinism during the Third Reich. Guided by Darwin’sDescent of Manand by early Darwinists such as Ernst Haeckel, the Nazis viewed the “Nordic race” as superior to other races. Worse, they concluded that the Nordic Germans should advance human evolution by ridding the world of “inferior” individuals and races, and claiming more living space for themselves and their offspring. The results were forced euthanasia programs for “unfit” Germans, the Holocaust, and World War II.

We’ve pointed out the connection between Hitler (and the atrocities the Nazis committed) and Darwin and his racist writings and teachings many times before (see, for example, “Humanism: the Most Blood-Stained Religion Ever?” and Hitler and the Nazi Darwinian Worldview by Dr. Jerry Bergman). It’s important to understand this link because ideas have consequences! And the idea of evolution has had, and continues to have, deadly consequences.

When it comes to “race” and racism, Darwin was wrong.

When it comes to “race” and racism, Darwin was wrong. Humans are not split into various races at higher and lower stages of evolution. The Bible makes it clear that God specially created mankind in his image. We are all descendants of Adam, “the first man” (1 Corinthians 15:45), and Eve, “the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20). So, there’s only one race—the human race. And this has been confirmed by genetics.

In other words, the “science” of Darwin was wrong (when it contradicts God’s Word, that’s true for any “science”—really interpretations of the evidence), and the history recorded in God’s Word was right all along.

Where’s the cancel culture when it comes to Darwinian evolution being taught in schools and having books on Darwin’s ideas in libraries? They won’t touch Darwin, as he’s the priest of the religion of naturalism.
